Africa Wingshooting

The High Adventure Company was one of the true pioneers into wingshooting on the Dark Continent with the first real wingshooting-only operation. Unlike others that focus on big game hunting and only offer wingshooting as a side note, our operation focuses on wingshooting, allowing you to have the best African wingshooting experience possible. We operate both in southern Africa and in Kenya, so give us a call to discuss which option might be best for you.

Kenya

Kenya is the ultimate destination for both hunters and non-hunting spouses. The yearly Great Migration, which has been called "the greatest wildlife spectacle," happens to coincide with wing shooting season, which ensures an outstanding game viewing experience and unforgettable trip for everyone.

Bird hunting areas, commonly known as "blocks," average about 400 sq. miles in size. A maximum of 8 shooters may be booked into one block. To be sure of getting the best blocks at the right time of year it is advisable to confirm your booking at least six months in advance. We normally choose shooting areas in South East Kenya about 100 miles south of Nairobi, but at certain seasons more northerly locations are good.

Our preferred site is not far from Amboseli National Park. This part of Kenya is mostly acacia savannah, lying at an altitude of 3,500-4,000ft and with a pleasant, moderate climate (July and August are the coolest months). There are fine views of Mount Kilimanjaro, and animals such as giraffe, impala, zebra and wildebeest are plentiful so there is good wildlife viewing for non-shooters. In addition to the wildlife that can be seen around camp there are large herds of elephant, buffalo and other species in nearby Amboseli National Park, easily visited on a day trip. Our safaris into these areas have invariably been successful and enjoyable largely because we know the region well. We adhere strictly to bag limits and maintain good relationships with both the wildlife department and the indigenous Masaai people.
